Arrived at the Welt today to take delivery of my new M3. I was very excited as we were about to headout for 10 days in Germany. After orientation, sitting in my car with my presenter, just about to hear the sweet exhaust sound, he informed me 2 customer care specialist needed to speak with me. what could this be,something special celebrating my third M3 Euro delivery? It was not to be. The rear differential has a safety problem and NO M3/M4 can be delivered at this time. I was speechless. If I had picked it up yesterday, would I be on the road? Yes you would was the answer. Timing is everything. I am now in Garmisch driving a 5 series touringthey loaned me with winter tires. I quess I won't make it to the ring after all. If you are planning on taking delivery of a M3or4 I am sorry to say its not going to happen for a while. They don't know when I will get my car. I will keep you informed and we will all see you they handle a bad situation

Wonder how that impacts cars already delivered, driven and on the boat as well as cars in the US?

Just carry on and enjoy... you don't want to find this out with your loved ones in the Autobahn or at the Ring.

TSB says that this "stop delivery" is for vehicles produced between May 12th and July 4th 2016. Models affected are M2, M3, M4, M5, 5- and 6-Series.

This is making me concerned that it will
Impact my re-delivery!

I have PCD scheduled for next week, I wonder if my M5 which was built in the window mentioned, is affected. Sigh, time to reach out to my CA.

The TSB says it is 202 selected. There would have been a lot more than 202 of all those models built. My CA got back to me already and says he has Checked and mine is not one of the 'affected vehicles'. Maybe when they checked the computer and found it had already been at 165 mph they figured it was ok :)

My CA checked and mentioned nothing on my vehicle yet, but that they are still working on finding out what cars have been impacted and should be added to the list. Who knows, time will tell.

While this sucks, better safe than sorry. Why don't you take the 5 series to the ring? It's a very capable car and pulls like a truck.

I hear there is a PDF file with the vins of the effected vehicles, any ideas how we can check, ran mine with open recalls and nothing showing but car is still sitting at port with a stop sale.

You mean a stop delivery? :)
I'd be interested in seeing that :)

An interesting unit, not complicated really, plates motor driven to provide an excellent 0-100% lock. The real power's in the computer driving the motor.

If BMW posts what the issue is, please post here!!
