hi,
gonna be getting a new 330ci, via ED, in the next coming months and am curious if the following would void BMWs warranty and if it does would BMW be a ***** about it. I plan on getting the euro clears and UUC's short shifter(with a new knob) right after the car arrives in the states.

I think 31st330i forgot to include a link.

Here's the jist of it. Basically, a car's warranty can NOT be voided via aftermarket mods unless the mod can be linked to the mechanical failure. So for example, if you install the UUC Short Shift Kit and your AC compressor should fail, there's no way BMW can link the damaged AC compressor to your aftermarket mod, thus they're required to honor the warranty request.

However, if your transmission should fail for whatever reason, you bet your sweet arse the manufacturer will find a way to associate the damage to the transmission to your short shift modification and deny you warranty work. It's pretty much as simple as that.

nope didn't forget anything. :D

well, they'd have a hard time proving a bearing or gear failure on the SSK but I'd consider any syncrho and or hub and collar damage to be void of any warranty if there is a SSK in the picture.

Prolly shouldn't have doubted you in the first place.

Actually what MAY wear out first is the BUSHING that connects the shifter carrier to the transmission mount. Otherwise short shift kits are very similiar in design to OEM shifters. In fact, I may have pointed out in the past that BMW offers a short shift kit not unlike what UUC offers on the E36 for the M3 series, and all the Z3s have short shift kits as OEM equipment.

would u recommend the UUC over the OEM short shift?
There is no OEM kit for the 330. There is a good comparo of most of the shifters out there on the UUC site.
