Water Pump Advice?

215 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Gregory_tolson
I'm planning to overhaul my cooling system on a 2004 325xi in the next few weeks.. I found this water pump brand new at a flea market for very cheap and since I had already planned on doing the cooling system, I figured I would pick it up..

The brand is Eurotech. Is anyone familiar with this brand or their parts? I don't want to use some janky water pump and I'm not well vesed with all these different part brands... I'd prefer to NOT spend a lot of money though if I don't have to, so if I can get away with using this pump, that would be great. Thoughts an opinions?

Don't be cheap on such a crucial element, these cars cant afford the water pump to fail. The M54 engine can run very hot quickly (in comparison to other vehicles) and warp the head before you even notice the car is hot. I suggest these brands ranging from cheapest to expensive. FCP Euro hand picks only quality parts if you are confused on what is good quality brand or not. Make sure you are buying a new thermostat at the very least. Tackle all the hoses, plastic pipes, and expansion tank as well since those all eventually crack. FCP euro has everything.

(uses plastic impellor but its the same company that built the one from factory)

(metal impellor)

Idk about Eurotec but have had good luck with HEPU water pump.

Installed HEPU in 4 BMWs so far so good.

The 1998 528i:
  • Installed HEPU in May 2006 at 90K miles.
  • It is now May 2023 and 193K miles, or 103K miles later, still fine. I plan to replace it soon.
I bought a cheap water pump on amazon with good reviews..Turns out the o-ring is not the right size and it leaked.

you're gambling if you use that water pump...It's brand I can't even find.. Is it Euro Tech or EuroTech. Where was it manufactured per the box?

The Hepu is a little cheaper than the Graf. Worth acquiring!
