This reminds me of a drive to work a few years ago in a non-bimmer:
I was minding my own business on an overpass. By the way, does anyone else have a problem with bridges? Bridges scare the ever lovin cah-rap outa me. Hey, it's my neurosis, I can't explain it. (Really I can, I just dont have the space.) Anyway, I'm drivin' to work ab 6:45AM and this 3 ton truck swerves left into my lane and then back into his own about two car lengths ahead of me.
As I am inclined to do anyway, because of my bridge fear, I am busy figuring out how far it is to the railroad below and wondering if I would live when BAM! Out of the corner of my eye this hah-YUGE thing comes flyin' towards my windshield. As it closes in, I recognize it as a four foot long 2x4 that was picked up by the truck and slung in my direction!
I duck in that knee-jerk reaction we all share when we're about to take one in the brain and wait for the bright light of death to come along. As it turns out, the 2x4 slams into the top of my car, shattering the sunroof visor just inches away from the windshield.
I promptly wet my pants and pulled over to the side to catch my breath. Unfortunately, I was in a rough part of town, so there were more than a few offers to work out my frustrations for money or crack. I declined and got to work early with a great story to tell.
