Well, Alex325i sold his M3 cos he's getting married. I guess I will wait for AlexB to get married...:D

But seriously, I have been thinking of becoming an Alpina dealer in Singapore and neighbouring countries too, if I do return for good. I have made a couple of observations from this recent trip already.

1.Alpina doesn't have a distributor in Asia (except Japan). And that one cannot import the cars out of Japan either.

2.Performance Motors Limited (S'pore only BMW dealer) sells and warrants ACS accessories only. Hence I need to jump at the chance of being an Alpina dealer before they do.

3. Land Transport Authority of S'pore discourages aftermarket modifications. This includes (believe it or not) upsizing wheels from 17" to 18". Freaky but true. Unless the 18" comes with the car from the factory.

I probably need a small showroom to display a B3 and a B10. A bar to display some Alpina wine. And a corner for my own model collection. :D China might be the BIG market too. In fact, BMW sells really well in China already.

Wouldn't it be rather hard to do and expensive? Got that kind of dough?

Ever driven an Alpina? :thumb:

Alpina distributorship in Singapore

Hey vince,
I'm not sure Alpina will be popular enough in Singapore to warrant your effort and $$ investment. The primary clientele for BMW's are:

1. Yuppies (who buy 318i's)
2. Ah Beng's

Yuppies will leave their cars stock cos they bought it was a status symbol. As for the Ah Beng's they tend to prefer 'flashier' mods like ACS and Hamann. Alpina is too understated and too "ah pek" for them.

On top of that, who wants to deal with the nuts at LTA who recently summoned a dealer to court for having to cheek to put in metallic oxide sunlight reducing windshields without approval! Sheesh.
