Nope, PPS is right, its some 'spatial enhancement' thing in the HK. My guess is it messes with the phase on the back speakers or something.

Actualy it seems to affect all speakers. You can radically tell the difference in my wagon when you toggle the switch. Sound is a lot more open, probably adding some some digital delay to the signals.
