What's up with the 4-Series ?

Yup, this proposal to move the Ci and CiC's to another series altogether has been around for quite some time.
I consider it an interesting idea, opening up the doors to many new and fresh ideas for the sportier models of the range. They'd likely share platforms and engines, but not much else.

Also, this would round out the brand beautifully in the future. Think about it:
1-Series and 2-Series - The new 1 could spawn a 2002 successor
3 and 4 - Same platform, different market
5 and 6 - Ditto
7 and 8 - Not too sure about the platform, but engines definately
Makes for a very well-rounded lineup from a naming standpoint.
