wheel locks??

My dealer is charging me $45 plus tax for wheel locks on my car? Is this worth it? Can I get them cheaper elsewhere? I know they are easy to install. Thanks everyone...

Call Pacific BMW (pacificbmw.com) -- I got mine from there for (IIRC) $30 shipped.
Dealer threw mine in for free at delivery.
I finally got mine a couple months ago for $30 installed.
DON"T GET THE ONES WITH THE KEY-TYPE LOCK.

thay can jam over time, and when the tumblers become damaged the Key will not engage or release the locking mechanism.

best to get the type that has a special keyed-nut.

I got mine for $31 installed at the time of purchase.

Agree with comments ref. avoiding the key lock; dealer threw a set in for me for free at pick-up (all I had to do was ask), along with a coffee mug, baseball cap, car for the kid, trunk mat, case of oil and a few filters, key ring, etc.
wow. you guys get a lot of things thrown in for free. Either your dealer is way nicer, you bought a more expensive car, or you seem more established and a possible repeat customer. My dealer wanted to charge me 995$ to purchase and install a cd changer!!!

Most bmw dealers take one look at me and show me no respect. I look like I am still in college but they don't realize that I hold a degree, a good steady job and am a year out of university....sigh... People need to stop judging others based on apperance.

Dude believe me it totally depends on the dealership and your sales guy. I got free mats, mugs, key chain, pen, hat, and a t-shirt. Good deal, great sale, and I'll definitely be back -- that's the definition of good business in my mind.

I'm 20, but when I put on the goatee I look about 26. ;)

Free stuff from the dealer

I bought the Alarm, Home Link and the Wheel locks through the Parts deparment separately (with a 15% or 20% discount)

Then the Service Manager put them ALL on for FREEEEEE!

You're only 20?? You seem a lot more intellectually mature than 20. :thumb:

But....boy, I'll bet you wish you could have one of these (legally):

wow...only 20? i thought you were atleast 25.5...heh heh. I'm only 22 so the only difference between us are a few pints of beer. :thumb:

I guess it does depend on your dealer. Mine is weird. They are pretty nice but it seems like they want to rip me off on everything. I guess thats one of the disadvantages of living in the SF Bay Area. They don't seem to care at all about the sagging economy. People were buying bimmers like hotcakes the past few years. I guess they sold so many that can still be cocky now...sigh sigh.

I'll try and see if I can get him to throw some stuff in on delivery day. I hope a good laugh is not all I get...
