Is it necessary to pay the sales tax before pickup - when the car is paid for - or at the time of pickup - when it is redelivered?

I have to pay it when I pay for the car...it's all part of the deal.

However, if your state has a large use or property tax for cars (like AZ), you can have your dealership holdback that fee and the registration fee until re-delivery. Unless it is a lease vehichle, then I'm not sure how they handle it

Think of it as state income tax paid out piecemeal. =)

Bee - What's state income tax?:dunno:
Oregon doesn't assess sales tax. Does WA have no income tax? Lucky ducks...

Delaware has no sales tax but we do have a doc fee of 3.25%

This is assessed at registration if the car is purchased out of state (like doing an ED with Irv).

No income tax in Washington but the sales tax is around 9% depending in which county you make your purchase. There's no way to escape the tax man.
