last week, I washed it with Dawn, but I forgot to do the second wash with my favorite automotive soap. I'm using Ripsnort's detailing schedule as a reference. Is it okay or will there be any side effects (i.e., shorten duration of protection)?

Oh No you'll have to start all over:tsk: There's no way the wax will adhere properly to a Dawn only washed car

The purpose of the 2nd wash is to make sure all dirt is removed.

I fugured as much, but you never know. The car was fairly clean since I had just washed it the day before with Sonax.
