Where do they do the testing? Is that in Newbury Park, Palo Alto or Oxnard?

I think it goes like this:

Newbury Park (DesignWorks)-- BMW Design and Architecture
Palo Alto - Research and Development for BMW's Technology Systems
Oxnard - Vehicle Testing

Just opened a dedicated center in Scandinavia. That and dessert (Nevada) driving plus lots of places in Bavaria account for most of the test driving.

France - Miramar test track
USA - Death Valley
Germany - Nurburgring, this is actually where a new car really gets the suspension and handling set up. And as mentioned above, Bavaria for various tests.

Several 'Festers have seen BMWs in disguise with "hard black plastic shells" over all body parts driving up and down Pacific Coast Highway in Orange County (just South of Los Angeles, CA). I saw what I think was a 3-series and only realized it was a BMW when I spotted the shark fin antennae. Newburry Park is quite a ways from Orange County, but perhaps someone lives in OC and work at Newburry Park.

The Oxnard, CA facility has been toured by the L.A. Chapter of BMW CCA. No mention of anything but a Vehicle Processing Center.

Lotsa manufacturers do their hot weather testing in Zona or the Mojave.

I saw a pre-release, manufacturer license plated Z3 cruising the I-5 in San Diego. I hear they also like the Palm Springs to San Diego backroads as it's a hot, hard climb and then a nice drive back along thecoast.

Some of their driving comes through West Los Angeles and Santa Monica. On occassion, I've seen masked BMWs on Wilshire Blvd and on Sunset Blvd.
