Where does UGDO installation rate on the Hack scale?

Is this a DIY job (I didn't see a DIY post on the excellent bmw330ci.com page), or do I need to have a service tech. install/program it for me?

Also, who's got the best prices for a UGDO? (I'm really looking forward to finally having a garage!)

Wanna know why there isn't a DIY post on bmw330ci.com? Because it ranked a nice ZERO on the HACK scale. Even Dubya can do it, it's that simple. Roof panel can be removed by hand, the back of the roof panel has a template that you can easily cut out with a Swiss Army knife, and everything is simply plug and play.

I also forgot to rank the OEM alarm install...I'd say a nice 3.

Thanks Dan, but the UGDO installation (at least the way you've described it), sounds more like a week-end job for me (and I'd probably need someone with a toolbox (what's a 'Swiss Army knife," anyways?) to help out as well.

Oh well, how much can my local BMW stealer possibly charge to install this stupid thing for me, anyways?

:D

Man, get TD to do it for you...He's handy with tools. :)

Trust me, it is NOT that hard...Have you ever changed out a lightbulb in your house? If so you can do the damn UGDO.

But if you are going to have some trained monkeys work on your car, I'd say they will probably charge you the STANDARD $85 an hour and probably .5 unit of work...So you're looking at around $50. For that money I'd rather just buy another remote and kick my own ass.

Alright, already. I'll see if Suga' Shane has some free time to help out with the friggen' UGDO!

Thanks Dan,

:D
It's a 10 minute (max) install...

I KNOW you don't want to start anything here Tom. I didn't bring you into this, so don't try to be bad. We wouldn't want you to start crying again (like last week).

Let's keep it friendly guys:eek:

Don't want to jump in the middle here but fun is fun and it appears to an outsider that this is not in fun. Tell me to shut up if you wish but just my $.02
No, you're right (and I apologize to the rest of the board for my uncivility--is that a word?).

In any event, while I certainly didn't 'start it,' I do intend to 'finish' it, or at least not take this sort of nonsense from Tommy lying down. I'm not going to allow him to 'bully me' over here the way he tries to do to most over on the .org.

Just did it last week

Get it from Circle BMW, on sale now for $134.99.

I installed it last Friday, total time about 20 minutes. That's from the UPS guy handing me the box to me opening the garage door with my newly installed transmitter !

There's a good DIY here: http://www.bmwnation.com/ARTICLES/diy/bmwut/bmwut.html

Only tools needed are a popsicle stick (to pry off the trim) and a box cutter with sharp blade.

Cool, Chris! Thanks for the link and the suggestion for Circle!

Personally, I have never seen someone with such a bitter streak. You engage TD at every turn, and drag all kinds of personal 'facts' in from when you two were friends. Grow up. (i watched the whole thread just unfold on bimmer.org before it was deleted)
