Which car is easier to maintain, meaning runing cost, a E92 M3 or a 996 carrera?

M3 you pretty much don't pay anything but gas. All maintenance is covered by BMW. 996 is an older Porsche = $$$$

You spend the money you saved while the M3 was under warranty that you would have spent on the 996.

If you comapre older generation M3 to comparable year 911s, the 911s are always more expensive to maintain.

The Porsche line of cars are very reliable especially the 997+ series and they rarely breakdown unlike the M3's.

I have an 01 C4 996 and it has been a great car. I think you will pay more for routine stuff over the first four years. The 996 can be very expensive to repair if something breaks. I would go with the M3 if cost is an issue. . .
