I really need to know which is fastest - a 335i or a 535D ?
Maby the 335 is fastest from 0-60 - but then what - is the 535D faster when it get a bit momentum ?
Anyone ... ?

If both have the same trans and the same driveline ( awd or rwd) I would say the 335 would be faster. An awd 3 series, however, weighs comparably to a rwd 5 series.

I mis-read your original post . I thought you wanted to compare two Diesel models. Actually the 335 would be a faster car ( 0 - 60 and top speed)

Hey guys, I drive a 2006 Civic Si coupe, supercharged Stage 2. I'm not here to spam, berate or mock anyone, I'm here just to post comments, facts and info. I come in peace =)

No more guessings for you question. I can personally tell you that the 535d is faster than the 335i coupe stockwise. Its only a bit faster, towards mid and top end speed, I can tell you the difference is not too big. Because I have personally raced with both vehicles with my Civic Si on the same highway with my same mods to a speed of 145mph where the 535d is at my rear quarter panel and 335 at about 2 car spaces behind the 535d.

The difference is less than half a second from 0-60mph. But if you talking about longer range/higher speed, the 535d will starts to overtake the 335 at about 100mph. This is stock vs stock.
BUT there is one fact to know is, 335 has more potential than the 535d, one simply stage 1 upgrade kit can boost the 335 to 380+hp so its more fun and more options to play around with.

Just as in the last thread you posted numbers, the problem is that they are not all from the same source. It appears you copy and pasted them from zeroto60times.com, which combines them from different sources such as manufacturers, magazines, other websites, etc., but doesn't notate where they found them.

I've driven both the 335i and 335d and my subjective opinion is that it doesn't feel close to me. The 335d has a lot of torque but runs out of steam fairly quickly in each gear.

I had my Z4 in for service a couple weeks ago and they gave me a 335d for loaner. DAMNED impressive! As other have said, 335i is probably faster by the numbers...(edit: by 0.7 second as I now see in the post above). And the d torque definitely had me addicted to that kick-in-the-butt feeling.

Great car for Europe with crazy high gas prices.
Decent performance for cruising.
335i smokes it in every category.
