I'm guessing P car in a landslide here, The z4 is similar in styling to Bangle's CS-1 and X coupe. Personally I think a light, sportier tuned, 2 seat convertible version of an e46 should give the boxster a real run for it's money. Assume the Z4 performs and communicates on par with the Boxster, which one does it for you?

This one is such a no-brainer...

Anyone who has driven the P-car will tell you that no BMW comes close on feel. I imagine the older P-cars were simply phenominal.

Won't the Z4 be around $10K less than the Boxter?

the MZ4 would be more comprable pricewise. I can't make a decision until full data on the Z4 is released, but it is between it an the Boxter. I think the 3.0L Z4 could be a real competetor for lots less money.

Maybe it's me, but earlier this summer I took a 98 boxster for an extended test drive and was not impressed. Granted I went into the test drive fully expecting to have my auto virginity taken so to speak, based on everything I had read about the boxster, but it wasn't that way at all.

I mean it was fast, it was secure, but it was boring to me. Maybe I wasn't pushing it hard enough, but taking corners at well over twice the posted limit without even a hint of driver skill required isn't my idea of a great time. I thought the engine was great, but too muted, the transmission miles ahead of our e46, and on par with my old e36, the steering nicely weighted, but no more comimunicative than my old e36. The rest of the car was "nice" but didn't set my world on fire.

Its not a 911 (a P-car purist cry I'm sure) but one of my coworkers just got a used Box-S, and it is a piece of work. I'm not much for 2-seaters/roadsters in general and would take a M3 over the Boxster, but of the above, its the winner.

Josh-

For round 4, do a M3 CSL vs 911 contest. Add in any other $70K sports cars you can come up with.

That one should be interesting.

I have not driven a Boxster but I've beat up on many at the track. I still picked it over the Z4 because the Z4 is so ugly!

I love the S2000. It would easily be my second car, if I could afford a second car.

S2000, no doubt. The money savings compared to the rest of the image-mobiles is staggering, and none of them is quite as communicative as the "Stook". BTW, who the hell would choose a TT. Slow, sloppy, expensive, trendy. Buy a Beetle Turbo S and enjoy the same car for MUCH less.

If I was to purchase a 2 seat conv. I would buy a used M Roadster and spend the rest of my money on a sweet roadtrip:D

I voted S2k, Boxster S is probably better all around but the price of the S2k leaves room for me to personalize my ride with mods. But for now, I'll stick with my little 1.9 Z3 and keep praying that I'll wake up to a dasc under my pillow.

I voted Porsche (but I'd want the "S")

BMW would be #2

S2000 #3

(TD, if you ever come out here... I will let you drive my 930... you won't stop grinning!)
