Maybe it's me, but earlier this summer I took a 98 boxster for an extended test drive and was not impressed. Granted I went into the test drive fully expecting to have my auto virginity taken so to speak, based on everything I had read about the boxster, but it wasn't that way at all.
I mean it was fast, it was secure, but it was boring to me. Maybe I wasn't pushing it hard enough, but taking corners at well over twice the posted limit without even a hint of driver skill required isn't my idea of a great time. I thought the engine was great, but too muted, the transmission miles ahead of our e46, and on par with my old e36, the steering nicely weighted, but no more comimunicative than my old e36. The rest of the car was "nice" but didn't set my world on fire.

This one is such a no-brainer...
Anyone who has driven the P-car will tell you that no BMW comes close on feel. I imagine the older P-cars were simply phenominal.
