Just when you would think It couldn't get any worse....

Catch-up here --> Simple service visit gone wrong

And here we go again, actually I'm too tired to talk about it but you can get most of it from the following pictures:

3 of the 4 rims still have the old weight tape on them...

All 4 rims are gouged like this!!

What do you think they used to clean these? This is not paint or any other substance on the surface, It is actually splotchiness in the finish!

And finally...

Their solution, Next week they will have a rim refinisher come in and refinish them... UGH I am so exhausted I just can't deal with this. HAHA life goes on...

Unbelievable! I've had tires replaced by mook's who you wouldn't want touching your car, in a place you'd scarcely bring a buick to let alone a BMW, do flawless work.
that sucks a big one man... im so sorry!

for those of u in the austin area, the place to go is Walker Tire Co, I went to the one at Airport & N Lamar. they put my S03's on and didn't make a single scratch!

u would think a BMW dealership would know better to scratch rims, UNBELIEVABLE! Now let's hope the wheel repair guy would do a good job.

I'll have to remember that when my tires are shot--thanks for the heads up. :thumb:

(We should do some kind of Austin get-together sometime, whether it's just to meet folks/eat/drive, whatever.)
ditto.

A local BMW dealer f'ed up my wheel also during a tire swap.
Personally I wouldn't accept a repaired wheel... for all the crap they put you through, you should get new ones.

I would complain to BMWNA as it stands, and threaten the dealer with complaining to the BBB, writing a newspaper editorial, etc. if they don't make everything right. I have never heard of such incompetence at a dealership with one thing happening after another like that. It sounds more like a government agency than a BMW dealer IMHO. How are they still in business?!

Sorry you're having such a difficult time...

Good luck,

Yeah man, u didn't come to the last one. I organized that and quite a few ppl showed up, we met up at Sam's loading lot next to JR (now Lexus), checked out everybody's cars (there were 2 E46 M3's, M5, M Coupe's, a few E36 M3's, Z3, and a few E46 and E36 3ers). We then went to lunch at El Arroyo on Bee Cave (right next to where I used to work) and then we went for a drive at Hamilton Pool Rd. =)

Let's do another one some time this summer... Maybe some time this July... There will be a CCA BBQ coming up too.

That really is unbelievable...I have the 15K service on Monday...now I wondering whether I should risk it. The car is running perfectly - I'm afraid they'll screw it up!

Reading SONETS post - he makes a good point abou the BBB. They were very helpful with resolving a gripe i had with a VW dealership in years past. Given this attrocious service, I would hesitate to call'em up.

DAM geomax, 15k ALREADY. Geez!! My car is 18 months old with right around 17K. Where do you drive??
I read posts in this forum that my prospective dealership (East Bay BMW) is fairly competent. For that I am glad. I'm beginning to wonder if your situation calls for legal action. Incredible. Simply incredible.
I am just so sorry you have to waste time on this crap. I wish it didn't happen to you buddy. All in all, i hope you have at least a satisfactory resolution to this saga.
You're lucky you don't drive an Audi.

Your Audi Service Advisor: "Sir, we couldn't help but notice that your car is modded. We believe that your aftermarket mods in fact caused the damage to your window seals and the scratches on your wheels. Repairs will not be covered under warranty.

Also, the kid that was supposed to wash your car was distracted by your mods and, therefore, locked the keys in the car while attempting to perform your complimentary (unauthorized) wash. After breaking off the door handle, we finally called a locksmith to break into the vehilce. Seeing as your mods caused the distraction, we are not responsible for the damage.

The parts/labor for the door seal repairs have been added to your bill. You also owe us $150 for a new door handle (inc. labor), $45 for the locksmith, $90 for 2-day rent-a-car, and $500 pain and suffering for the wash kid who was distressed 'cause he left is iced cappuccino in your idling car. Poor little guy had to stand there and watch his $4 coffee drink warm up right before his eyes and may suffer emotional scars." :bawling:

Thank you, everyone here! It really means a lot to me to know that I am not the only one that finds this completely ridiculous. I am so exhausted dealing with this gross incompetence that I'm not feeling too upset right now but I also feel like you, my fellow Festers, have taken on some of the anger for me. Words can't express how I feel about each and everyone here, all I can say is, thank you!

Next week will hold more chapters to this interesting story... wish me luck!

D: I can actually see something like that happening in CA

As far as the rental goes, they actually said yesterday... "don't worry about the rental "upgrade" (that was an upgrade?) the dealership is going to take care of it" WTF??? I wasn't even going to ask!! Ha scew them! I told them they better have a BMW for me next week and the service advisor said she would.

When I was about to sell my A4 and buy either a 2002 Audi S4 or my current 330ci, I took the car into my local Audi dealer for it's scheduled service and to ask the "service" dept to take a look (not repair, mind you) at the rear end of the car. I explained that I KNEW the suspension and exhaust was modded, but that I was not asking them to make any repairs. I told them that I was selling the car in a week and wanted to see if they could try to help me determine the source of an irritating rattle and a creaking noise from the rear susp when compressed. I wanted to get any issues resolved before the guy flew out to look at the car.

Then knew I was in the market for a new car and that the S4 was a consideration ( I had even had them locate one that was equipped to my spec ). You wanna guess what they told me? They would not even LOOK at the items that I mentioned and cited that the reason was because the car had aftermarket springs/shocks (H&R, Bilstein) - not even as a favor.

In the end, I just got under the car myself and had a look-see. I figured out what the rattle (exhaust heat shield) and creaking (Neuspeed rear sway bushings were thirsty for lube) were and corrected both myself.

Well, at least the Audi service advisor helped me with my decision of which car to buy. :D
