Personally, I like the looks of the 17" SP rims much better, and the $900 upgrade charge for the 18" wheels seems awfully extreme.
Wheels are very much a question of personal opinion, but I find the 3 series 18" option very unattractive - they resemble some kind of kitchen implement. I'm sure some people love them (again a matter of taste), but my guess is that a different design would have attracted more buyers. BMW has some great looking 18" wheels (the double spokes that came with the 7 series sport model were awesome)... but I don't think the type 72's represent their best work.

In general, I think the best wheel designs are clean and simple rather than busy like the 72's. Also, I think the design of the 72 is more dressy than sporty (which I'm sure appeals to some, but not to me).

Are the 18" wheels any wider than the 17's? I really like the 18's but I can only imagine how hellish it would be to own them (tire replacements + initial costs + cleaning = PITA).
The 18s arent' very sporty looking and look like a pain to clean.

17" M68's rock!
nothing could be more difficult to clean than the M68's
Yah, but they look SOOOO good, it's worth the effort! :D

What's so hard about cleaning M68s? :dunno: The only mild pain I see is cleaning between the spokes where they meet the edge of the rim.

Al once you clean them 250+ times, of course it's gonna get easier. DUH. :p

I have type 73's and M68's...the M68's are a piece of cake compared to the 73's...

My rims are starting to get a little thin from washing them every other day... maybe I need to get another set. :D

You have enough spares that haven't touched the road to make a complete set! :D

Ouch, that sucks :( Did you get the second new one yet?

How badly did you rip your hands apart cleaning the inside of the 73's when you took them off?? It was like cleaning 20 serrated blades :bawling:
