Taking in the view before the rest of the drive home...

The road in question is Patterson Pass Road. It takes me from Livermore to Tracy over the Altamont Pass. I live in the Central Valley of California and commute to the East Bay Area of San Francisco. It's roughly 60 miles to and from work and I had been taking the train up until I took delivery of my car. Now that I have such a great car to drive it's hard not to put on the miles and take these roads to work. The section of road pictured above is about 15 miles long and I have another 20 to 30 miles of backroads I can take to make the drive worthwhile. If you live in the Bay Area and head out to the Central Valley it's worth taking.

These pictures were taken yesterday around 5:30pm. Some of the back roads can get a bit busy, but given that this one is particularly windy and narrow it doesn't get nearly the same traffic. You'd be surprised at the pace of the cars taking this road, though. Minivans, pickups, etc., still scoot up to 70mph through the straights. The turns are a little different, but passing the slowpokes on the straightaways takes care of that. :D
