I bought the car from the original owner. I guess, when the owner bought it, they probably told the dealer to de-badge the "325i" emblem from teh back? The back trunk looks unscathed - as if nobody did anything to it.

This also might be evidence of a prior accident, and whoever repaired it didn't replace the badge.

Removing the model badge is common.

In Europe you can even order them that way from the factory. (code 320, Model Designation Delete)

Model Designation Delete isn't available on US BMWs
It is easy to take the badge off though.
