Windshield fluid pump not working
As the subject states, my windshield fluid pump is not working. I don't know if it's a fuse issue or something more. When I press the stick to squirt some washer fluid on my windshield, nothing happens. After a few seconds, the sprayers in front of my headlights spray, but nothing out of the hood nozzles. I don't even hear the pump. Had a friend hit the lever while I had the hood open and nothing happened. Fluid level is topped off.
Where is the fuse for this pump located? Also, has anyone else had this problem?

The plastic tubing at age 13 had turned as brittle as glass and when I replaced the pump last year I replaced all the plastic tubing with silicone rubber hose. After putting everything back together the first flick of the switch resulted in multiple separations at the tees. I went back in and secured each connection with a small tie wrap. There is a major increase in the volume of water delivered to the window. Works great.
I love this place!!! I'm having the exact same problem and how have a great idea how to approach it.
Last year we had an ice storm that hit in the evening just as I was getting off work and I had a terrible time getting home because the windshield in my truck kept icing over solid in freezing rain!!! There was one small hole about the size of a credit card just over the inspection sticker that didn't ice over and that was the only way I could see out of the truck. When someone ahead of me would hit the brakes the whole windshield would turn bright red!! I couldn't pull off the highway because there are all kinds of guard rail problems here in Dallas, and I couldn't see the R side of the road at all so I had no way of knowing if there was a guard rail, or a stopped car or any lane at all because many are not available here due to massive road construction taking place in Dallas. All I could do was go straight ahead watching the center stripe. Was the worst drive I ever had and I'm not looking to have anything like that happen this winter or hopefully ever again.

Got the front winshield washer to work replaced all the hoses with one form home depot. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Rear washer not working and headlamp washer

My apologies to all. I felt kinda strange that I was going to send an email/message to someone whom I now believe to be deceased. I thought I'd pass the info in case anyone else did eventually send a message for whatever reason, because of how it could possibly affect family members. Sorry.
I know that this is an ancient thread but thought I'd post something that might be helpful.
After I removed my pump I called around looking for a replacement. Nobody had one in stock and the dealer wanted $100 for one so I thought I'd give a shot to repairing the one I had.
The two piece assembly comes apart quite easily. The black part is a ribbed barrel that friction fits into the grey part. (No glue) Once apart there was some rust on the little electric motor that drives the thing and the shaft was resistant to turn. I used a little wire brush to clean it up. I sprayed the entire motor inside and out with a liberal amount of electrical contact cleaner and the shaft turned more freely. A small dab of WD40 on both ends of the shaft where it contacts the housing made a big difference. I bench tested it with a 12V DC power source and it worked great. Put it all back together and re-installed. It's been a year and it still works fine.

Hello everybody. I have a strange and awkward problem with my E39 520d Touring (06.2000): washer pump not working (but wipers do work) and nobody seems to findout why. All the wires have been checked as in WDS, fuses are ok and wipers switch have been replaced. It do sprays on windshield only when conected to the interface (delphi one i think) with a laptop, but not from switch. If anybody has any idea what can i try next i would very much appreciate. Thank you.
Reservoir Pumps

Just a general tip, it's worth keeping in mind that the washer systems are very different depending on whether a car has "intensive wash" or not.

If you have a pump next to the right side strut tower (this one), that is for the intensive wash. The "normal" windshield wash pump (here) lives down near the bottom of the right side wheelarch.
Also, beware that plastic hoses are very brittle when they get old. While trying to disconnect a hose from the pump, the hose will probably crack.
