Britax Super Elite. 1 to 8 years Weight 22 - 80 lbs. They're in short supply. Been on the waiting list. With the way my son is growing we needed one that would last for awhile. BMW related? Yup, this thing is a monster. It won't fit in the 330Ci. :thumbdwn:

I guess

TD is the only one that can appreciate this, especially since he recommended Britax.
Does it have isofit?

What is the weight/size range on that? We've bought a total of 2 Britax, 1 MaxiCosi and 1 EvenFlo (I think) child seats. One of the Britax went to my parents and the EvenFlo went to my in-laws. And we have the other Britax in my car and the MaxiCosi in my wife's car. So, until she outgrows these seats, I, thankfully, am not buying another.

I am saving up for THIS (the Recaro booster seat)-

Nope, only the Expressway has the isofit . 20-40 lbs.

Super Elite info:

Forward Facing
Age: 1 to 8 yrs Weight: 22 - 80 lbs

Forward Facing Youth Seat Age: 1 to 8 yrs old
Weight: 22 – 80 lbs Height: 27” to 53”
Fabric Cover Style: Sapphire

Finally, a 5-point harness child seat up to 80 lbs! Four adjustable shoulder heights provides a more secure fit as your child grows. The Super Elite is made of strong Roto-Molded polymers and allows your child to continue using the 5-point harness longer than most other restraints.

The innovative Versa-Tether provides additional installation stability and minimizes movement of your child’s seat in the event of an impact.

The Super Elite can be used with either a lap belt or a lap and shoulder belt combination. This allows you to use this child seat in any forward facing, rear vehicle seat.

Easy and convenient One Pull Harness Adjuster Strap makes securing your child fast and safer each time you travel.

PLEASE NOTE: As you can imagine, the demand for the Super Elite in the marketplace has been tremendous, as so many parents just like you want to take advantage of the 5-point harness for their older children. Unfortunately, due to manufacturing constraints that Britax has already taken steps to change, the Super Elite will not be available everywhere until Spring, 2002. We do apologize for the delay and would like to refer you to the Starriser Comfy and award-winning Roadster belt positioning booster seats. Thank you for giving Britax Child Safety, Inc. the opportunity to serve you.

Although it meets the rollover test, the Super Elite is not certified for use on aircraft because it is too wide for airline seats.
The Super Elite meets US FMVSS 213.
MSRP: $199.00
Product Dimensions: 22”W X 30.25”H X 22.5”D
Seating surface to top-most slot: 21”H
Seating surface to top of shell: 29”H
Product Weight: 23.2 lbs.

A couple of follow-up points...

That thing sounds BIG. We have taken both the MaxiCosi and Britax RoundAbout on airline trips and they fit fine. Anything bigger than that isn't going to fit easily in either of our E36s either.

And all of the seats we have bought have 5-point harnesses. That info you cut-and-pasted makes it sound like they are only recently adding 5-point harnesses to their line-up or something. And we've has our Britaxes for like 2 years now.

The Maxi-Cosi is forward-facing only and will probably fit our daughter longer than the Britax as the Britax is "convertible" (as in it can face rear too).

I'm looking forward to when she outgrows the Britax so I can add the Recaro to the M3.

It's Britax first seat that goes up to 80 lbs. or 8 years of age that has the 5-point harnesss.

Finally, a 5-point harness child seat up to 80 lbs!

My wife has a Cosco Omega Advantage which will fit in our cars (except it doesn't fit too well in the Ci) and is airline approved. I needed a childseat for my car (525i) and I didn't see any reason to buy another seat that goes up to only 40 lbs., my son currently weighs 28 lbs. and he is only 16 months. He is also very tall for his age.

The lady at the store in Atlanta asked if I had a small car before processing my order. We'll see. If it's too big I'll have to return it.
