Would you buy your 335I today?

I'm in the market for a new car, the 335i seems to be a pretty awesome car. Now that we are past the whole fuel pump issue that plague everyone back then, would you buy a 335i today or go with a different 3 series?

what I said

a low km E90 335i (low km = 20,000km - 30,000km is about 16000 miles) is 1/2 the price if a brand new later series (F30) 335i

base on that logic, I would buy a used E90 335i

Is that clear ?..... "Crystal Sir...." said Tom Cruise

Just bought mine in April. Traded in an '08 335 sedan for the '12. I'm good to go.

I have a 2007 335i coupe. It's incredible. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it more so when it's not raining. Haha. I also upgrade the power output with dinan stage 2 software, cold air intake and exhaust. I loved the car before but now it's amazing honestly. Gas consumption didn't change if it did I haven't noticed and it is a pleasure to drive. Rips.

Would love to do a Dinan stage upgrade. No sport pkg. No aux oil cooler. They said they could install one but it's big bucks. I can drive over to their shop. Glad it's workin' for ya. My 'lil granny premium will still sh*t and git tho. My e93 is just a bit slower than my old e90(extra weight) but the convertible part is worth it. Really like my Dinan exhaust. Sounds too cool w/ the top down.:roundel:

some interesting respondes, why does so much **** break on bmws? i thought if i would have went with just a inline 6 engine with out the turbos i would be avoiding alot of the problems, but it sounds like it is pretty equal across the board. I have read brake changes on a bmw are north of 1000$ and have to be done pretty often is this something someone can do by them selfs or something only the shop can handle?

Yes, i wish I did the first time. My car is 7.1 0-60 and leaves me in the dust by just about every other car on the road everyday! I won't make that mistake next time.

Either 335 engine is just a marvel of power and efficiency. Mine is the older, twin turbo one, and it has great power all across the speed range, and little, if any, turbo lag. It is a most flexible engine, and I would not hesitate to get that 3.0L turbo charged straight six again.

You'd want to get (reasonably cheap hardware and software) to handle reading and clearing BMW codes and service interval counters, but then the rest is pretty straightforward DIYs.

I'm thinking it'll still cost a bit more in maintenance than, say, a Honda, just because parts cost + more maintenance is required (i.e. water pump replacement or valve cover gasket or coil pack or...) but honestly not too bad.

If it helps, I decided on a '12 335i E92 that was CPO and it came in the same day I was supposed to get the 235i, reason I chose the 335i was because of the options and, less stress on my pockets. But each to their own. After almost a week of owning it, it has been an awesome car. Especially if you get it coded like I did today. Keep looking though till you find the deal you want like I did.

I would buy my car again. It's everything I wanted.

One consideration is that I was fortunate enough to be in a position to pay for maintenance without it causing hardship. That I've picked up DIY as a hobby only helps.

If maintenance costs are frightening to you, then you either need to be a confident DIYer or buy a different car. Worrying about things like that ought not intrude on what should be a really positive experience.

There's always the possibility that your maintenance costs will run that amount every year. I recently sold my '02 Chevy Suburban that had 82,000 miles on the odometer. That vehicle cost about $2,500 annually to maintain and it was a Chevy.

Ya true. It's not cheap. I choose dinan cause I believe they do things the right way. Quality and performance but it comes at a price for sure. There was a sale so I put a deposit on the stage 3 engine package and stage 2 suspension. I'll wait till the spring to do it though. Can't wait to try it. Maybe I can cut u a deal on my factory oil cooler so u can do stage 2 :)

I'm good. May go w/a cold air intake come tax time though. I've got the K&N filter and have been using them for years. You have the Dinan CAI? They are expensive but I also prefer to use the tuner that the mfg. approves of.
