OMFG...that is just plain sad...the current 5 is a very pretty car...well...except the stupid angel eyes, but this thing is just plain ugly.

A 5.0L V10 in the M5 and I still won't want one(not that I can afford one)...sad to see...

I knew I had seen this car before...high trunk...hood that slopes down to a much too narrow profile, not enough "bulk" and "power" to the front end...even the ugly new 7 at least has that...ugh...

Boy, I had been really annoyed by all of the purists complaining about every new design and lamenting the direction of BMW's coming redesigns. I was really getting tired of "bangle this" complaints and "bangle that" complaints.

Anyway, now I understand the fear and horror. I don't know what it makes me think of most....IS300? Cadillac? Nissan? Yuck. And this from a guy that really likes the e46's 2002 facelift. (Good thing since I ordered one)

I'm tired of the current bloated 5-series. This one looks fresh and the headlights are I think better than the 7's.

I'll reply to this post since nobody else has. I agree -- I think the current 5er tries to be too much like the 3er and the 7er at the same time. It just looks like a very confused car to me. The angel eyes are the ONLY thing I like about the current 5er.

Tally up another vote for the positive crowd. Through all of the terrible spy pics of the E60, it looks like the final one will come out relatively attractive.

I particularly like the little rub strips on the front bumper, looks aggressive yet subtle.

I'll limit me critique until the final design comes out, but...

... I wish that Bangle's team would "turn that frown upside down". Or better yet, get rid of it entirely. I fear that the frowning front along with the proportionally small fog lamps is now a BMW signature item.

I like it! It's relatively understated, and more streamlined.

The big slab doors are the only thing I'd change, I think.

Looks almost Audi/VW -ish. Not a bad thing IMHO. This rendition doesn't seem ugly enough to be a real BMW design though. The final product is sure to have more "flair" if you know what I mean.

Hopefully the headlamp design is just a bad photoshop of the E65. Other than that, the car looks fine.

While the new 5 series pic is horribly ugly, the Accord pic in your message is quite attractive, IMO.
