about 112miles over 10.71 gallons!!! Whatever happened???

That was for about a week of driving and mostly city driving. Though I must admit I have been driving pretty hard lately too. But at approx 10MPG is way beyond my expectation. Can anyone explain why?:dunno:

But over the weekend I drove down to SD, AutoX there and back. The mileage climbed up to about 22MPG. That is more like it..but still..10MPG bugs me..

I blame it on the reversed step pattern. :D

Hook up your OBD-II software, and do a scan. See if there were any faults stored. It's a long shot, but worth seeing.

10mpg is unusually low.. are you sure you filled the tank all the way at the last fill-up? That would skew your results significantly.

Hmm... with all the weight you're carrying, plus the step, I could see 10MPG.

I never get over 17, myself.

The best I've donw ~21 mpg on a tank where 70% highway driving. I hoping that as engine continues to break in it will improve:dunno:

Usually w/ 50.50 driving I've been getting ~ 19mpg

Geez Phil, that's terrible. :D My 330 gets better mileage than that!

Actually after about 5000 miles, my mileage really improved. These days, I typically do 22mpg getting to and from work, and my 100% highway is typically between 29 and 31mpg. :thumb: Not too shabby from a 3.0L engine.

The 330 is geared taller for both trannies than the 325, so even the EPA numbers are better for the 330, I believe.

I'm getting a fairly consistent 21.5-23.5mpg in mostly city (although 50-60mph limits around here is a bit different from normal 'city' driving).
You guys must have lead feet...

I routinely get 21.5-23mpg in city driving. What's your average speed? Mine's around 29.5.
My avg mph is ~ 35 on last tank. I only have 2300 mile so I hoping when I hit 5k like Alee I see some improvement. It would be nice if the 2.5 could do at least as good as the 3.0. I realize that some of the loss is from the AWD so I can live with it.

Ok..I am the one who has been silly. :D I computed with the wrong numbers. It should have been 16.298MPG. Still the lowest since June 2001. But that is a lot better. :)

Here's a history of my mileage.

I have a written log in my car... I should graph it out and compare. :D

Vince nice thorough analysis, you wouldn't by chance be related to Al:dunno: I see some similarities developing between the 2 of you:yikes: j/k

No real answer for you on the mileage, Have yo unoticed any change in performance? Possible dirty fuel filter?

For a while I was getting 14.5 MPG, 100% city driving. Just recently it's climbed to 18.9 MPG, 100% city. I would love to see 20-21 MPG (city).
My average speed was 17 or 18 last I looked.
WHich is why I have such pathetic mileage. I never go more than ten feet before i hit a stop sign.
Nick
Obviously, these are relative terms, I am registering 20.1 mpg with a 31.1 mph. Thus far I have covered 15xx miles, under mild to hard driving on back roads 85% of the time.
I am doing mainly highway driving; 26.5 MPG at 65 MPH average speed.
76 gasoline here. Going by scribbled down pad I keep in the car, and driving 70% highway, 30% city, I'm avg'ing 27.6 MPG. My lowest was 24 mpg (during a 80% city, 20% highway tank) and highest was 31.5 mpg (long trip, 90% highway)

I get my foot into it now and then, but never exceeding 5000 rpm (one time red line just for grins...still got a stain in my shorts)

Now here's a question for ya, why does the 325 get less mpg than the 330? (the rating is 1 mpg less for the 325)

For marketing purpose??:dunno: I do believe that 325's 184HP is a very conservative number. M54 2.5L has got to be a little more than 184.

Vince,
Those Alpina parts are heavy...weighing down the car increases the gas consumption. As a friend I'll take all that stuff off your hands (at a substantially reduced price)

Just helpin ya out bud! :D

huh?? Those Alpina weigh less than your Style 44s 17" as a matter of fact. :D

Lower mpg because of higher revs? 3k RPM @70mph in 5th...
