ok, how do i take apart the shifting.. because i got the back part my the seats to lift up but nothing wanted to move by the counsel area.. any tips?

thanks,

At the rear of your leather shift boot (bottom edge) push it forward and lift. The front part can lift up then as well. Pull the shifter back to Neutral and pull hard straight up to release it from the console (careful not to hit yourself in the face).

in my non-automatic Z, I removed the center console without removing shift knob. only needed some more care to pass over it. your plastic "boot" think is simpli fixed with connectors same of the leather one..you just have to give a look at it

maybe is just the same :)

I have a 2000 Z3 roadster. Trying to remove the console following the directions in the first post, I can get it to pivot up from the rear, but the console will not drop away at the front. It is stuck at the top. Seems something else is holding it at the top. Ideas?

TIA,

Bill

Raise rear of console slightly while pulling to rear. Pull back only as far as needed to disengage front locking clips. Remove cigarette lighter wiring. Slide console to left, rotate to clear parking brake handle, then remove console.

Front locking clips??

When I lift the rear and pull on the console to the rear it will not come free at the front top edge under the vent. It feels like something else is holding it on.
