Jon,
I like the black leather shift knob used in the Z4 and would like to put it in my E46 325i. The knob looks different from the ones I've seen before from the BMW accessories catalog.

Will this shift knob fit in my E46 325i? If so, what is the part number and price from Cutter?

Thanks a lot!

Hey Peter,

How's it going? You know, I do wear many different
hats of many different shapes and sizes, but parts
is one that I've never tried on...

Intuitively speaking, a shift knob ought to have
some sort of standardized threading, and I feel that
it would be reasonable to conclude that the Z4 application
would fly on an 3 Series. If I see Manny, I will
ask him if he knows...

Thanks, Jon. Let me know what Manny says. What is his email address or contact number, by the way... in case I have future questions about parts?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info, Manny. I'll call you one of these days. Here's the knob I'm looking for... and the e-brake handle too, if it fits.

Pete

Pete,

You are getting too stylish for the rest of us :D

But seriously, I think all you need to do is yank the current one and push in the new one. But don't blame me if you end up with a Z4 knob in yur bedroom :lmao:

Anyone else notice the resemblance between the Z4 steering wheel and the steering wheels on bumper cars?

I thought the stock E46 leather knob looks like this one: (except without the ///M logo)... :dunno:

If so, then the Z4 knob looks different.

The Z4 knob looks more like this one: (except it's all leather instead of wood/leather)... :dunno:

Mine looks like bottom one with the single seam up, and around the front, then back down.

I think that BMW changed the shift knob when the '01s hit the market.

My '99 has a shift knob that looks exactly like the lit //M knob (minus the lighting), yet every loaner I have driven in the last couple of years was equiped with the knob that looks just like the one in the pic of the Z4 interior.
