Here is the full z4 2006 model range

Z4 roadster 3.0i (N52)
Z4 roadster 3.0iA (N52)
Z4 roadster 3.0si (N52)
Z4 roadster 3.0siA (N52)
Z4 M roadster (N54)

Anyone know what the 3.0si is?

Hi Ron,

where did you get the list from?

Also, I have heard that the N54 is supposed to be the code for the upcoming M engine, but do you know if it is going to be the new V8 or the upgraded S54?

Ron, are these US and european market cars?
I think these are only US Spec models. European market cars have other engines beside the 3.0 Liter (such as the 2.0i, 2.2i,2.5i)

si is probably a turbo.
n54 is a valvetronic engine based on the s54 block.
Time will tell.

Maybe the 3.0si is the 330i engine, and the 3.0i is the 325i engine?

I heard that the 330 and 325 engines are the same except for software.
EPC backs this up.

Makes sense to me. Mirrors the E90 engine lineup except for the 'N54' business. But why reverse the old is suffix to si, like they did with iL/Li?

The new M5/6 engine is a S85, so the 'S' designation will continue to exist. n4x, n5x, n6x, n7x and n8x are 4, 6, 8, 12, and 10cyl, respectively. So naturally it seems to follow that a 'N54' is a 6cyl valvetronic, which doesn't jive with the E90M3's supposed V8, or that there are no valvetronic Motorsport engines (yet).

Interestingly, the E90 325 and 330 both have a 3.0L displacement. There must be more differences than software, though, beacuse a good tuner could turn a 325 into a 330 for a lot less than BMW charges. I really don't know why BMW did this unless they plan to drop the 325 in a year or two and add the turbo to the lineup.

Hmm, aren't Valvetronic engines all already DI?
Yes. The article that I read was talking about the 2nd generation, hence DI2 in the document.

EDIT : I had to look it up, but apparently the new 6 cylinder Valvetronic engines are not DI. AFAIK, the V12 came with DI.

Hmm, this jpg is VERY interesting. So it looks to me like the N53 is supposed to be for EU use, where fuel economy (the '-20% consumption') and CO2 emissions are very important. And looking at the pic of the N54, it appears this might be the turbo that people have been talking about, as there is some 'stuff' attached to the exhaust manifold, and a pipe wrapping around the front, with more power (200kw is like 280ps, right?).

So if this follows through, I'm envisioning the N52 going away completely, being replaced by the N51 on the low end, N53 as the mainstream 3l, and the N54 as the 'is' or '3.5' variant.

Hi,

I am interested in the 2006 Z4 and glad to find some info here.

I am wondering if BMW is going to offer both 3.0 engine (255hp) and 3.0 twin turbo (280hp?) on Z4, how much extra can they charge on a M version with S54 engine (333hp)?

Base on the MSRP, a well equipped Z4 3.0 costs around 48K. My guess is a 3.0 TT will cost 52K and a MZ4 may cost u close to 60K.

IF BMW puts a 3.0 turbo into the Z4, I dont think they would make the MZ4 a S54, just not enough power difference and a chipped 3.0 turbo will smoke the M. So if there is a 3.0 turbo and they make a MZ4 it would be the V8, maybe slightly detuned to be less powerful then the E90 M3. its a lotta IFs though. :dunno:
