Those things on the headlights "coils" are called heatsinks, air-cooled passive heatsinks. It's for the LEDs as they get very hot.

You have LED headlights which is a step above Xenon as they are the newer technology for lighting the road at night.

 

LEDs are not available in the M240. The heat sinks are for led angel eyes.
