Cant Code Video in Motion

I have used the Bimmercode app with an i3 that I had until I got my 2017 G30 a couple of weeks ago, so reasonably familiar with the app and coding.

But, while trying to code VIM, you are requested to hold the controller forward, which I do, and then I get a prompt that I should see a speed lock setting? I never see any sort of speed lock setting in any of the menus and must "X" out the prompt on the app and don't have the VIM?

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in Advance!

I have Bimmercode and was able to activate VIM, but it wouldn't work as soon as I put the car into Drive.

I had to install a .bin VIM file specific to my VIN. Now it works flawlessly.

I just wish there was a way to turn off sub-titles in a movie in iDrive 6, when they're an add-on and you can disable it on any other media player.

Yes the .bin VIM is an easy and working way to get the Multimedia possibilities while driving.
But not the "office" features, anyone knows how to get them unblocked?

I like to have BMW nav and Waze together in split screen, that is functional with the .bin.
But Waze is than in the Multimedia screen copy mode and will block all other BMW multimedia, so when playing Waze, no music or radio content is playable. Is there a solution for this?

Hi Shawn,

I think i’m Also seeing the same issue. I successfully coded using bimmercode app (I got the speed lock page after holding the controller forward the 2nd attempt and switched the setting), but I still get the “for your safety” screen instead of the video once I move off?

How do I get the .bin file?

Thanks.

Yes, unless at that time the latest firmware isn't blocked again. No telling what will come.

Well, hopefully it stays working. Others have not been so lucky and have switched to .bin file method.

BimmerCode is a commercial Phone app for coding that requires a Bluetooth OBD Dongle.

.bin file is just a file that runs from USB Drive via car's USB Port.
