can you help me with .bin VIM file.
My Car has a very new SW-Rev (built in June 2018) and Bimmercode dosen't work because of missing update.

I have Bimmercode and was able to activate VIM, but it wouldn't work as soon as I put the car into Drive.

I had to install a .bin VIM file specific to my VIN. Now it works flawlessly.


I just wish there was a way to turn off sub-titles in a movie in iDrive 6, when they're an add-on and you can disable it on any other media player.

 

Yes the .bin VIM is an easy and working way to get the Multimedia possibilities while driving.
But not the "office" features, anyone knows how to get them unblocked?

I like to have BMW nav and Waze together in split screen, that is functional with the .bin.
But Waze is than in the Multimedia screen copy mode and will block all other BMW multimedia, so when playing Waze, no music or radio content is playable. Is there a solution for this?

I think i’m Also seeing the same issue. I successfully coded using bimmercode app (I got the speed lock page after holding the controller forward the 2nd attempt and switched the setting), but I still get the “for your safety” screen instead of the video once I move off?

How do I get the .bin file?

U sed Bimmercode to code VIM back in October 2017, and it works perfectly. I wonder if they updated the app since then?

 

More like updated BMW firmware.,..blocking it. .bin file not have this issue though.

 

I see. So if my car ever gets a firmware update for any reason, I will be in the same predicament?

Yes, unless at that time the latest firmware isn't blocked again. No telling what will come.

 

Oddly, before I could request the .bin file, I took the car out the next day and lo and behold the coding appears to have worked. Possibly the car needed to fully shutdown to take effect? Either way I seem to have working VIM now.

 

Well, hopefully it stays working. Others have not been so lucky and have switched to .bin file method.

BimmerCode is a commercial Phone app for coding that requires a Bluetooth OBD Dongle.

.bin file is just a file that runs from USB Drive via car's USB Port.

HUD turn signals does not work on any vehicle with digital cluster.

I heard BMWs that were updated with the latest i-step can't run .bin files to unlock VIM. So, there is no solution to unlock VIM in this case. Does this information proceed?

 

Update: wasn't updated to newest. Disregard below.

Mine was updated , and my old .bin worked .
