Display of heated steering wheel

Hello!

I know this feature from the F3x series. In new ars you can see in the kombi display whether your heated steering wheel is switched on or not. Normally you have only a light on the knob and this is nearly impossible to see if you are driving.

This feature is new on cars from the second half of 2014. I tested it on my M5. I made a TAL calculation with ZK 1114 and flashed KOMBI and SZL without any positive result. Everything works as it should but there's no symbol for the steering wheel. Seems that this feature is only available for a F3x. There's also no option to code in the CAFDs.

Hello!

I tried it with the latest one -> 1114. I don't think that there should be any difference to 0714.

Hello!

No light, only the text message on the display.

Hmm, you have also a M5 from 2013, so it should be codeable.

Hello!

I updated SZL, NBT and Kombi to 54.1 and then vo-code the ECUs with a VO with ZK 1114 - no result.

Hmm, it seems that there's another ECU involved which is responsible to display the message - but which one?

On Friday I have a little bit more time and will bring the rest of the car to 54.1. Could be that I have to vo-code ECU by ECU with a newer ZK to find it out.

The FRM seem to be involved in other actions connected to the SZL like steering wheel adjustment. The request to activate the heated stering wheel is sent directly to the steering wheel module in the steering wheel via LIN bus. However, the SZL is connected to ZGM With flexray bus and then further to FRM via Can2 bus. Since the ZGM isnt codeable, maybe it is about ZGM software. Alternatively it might be coding of FRM?

Hello!

Thanks for your help. Tomorrow I will update the rest of the ECUs to 54.1 (including FRM and ZGW). Hope that this will bring the text in the display.

Hello!

I took a look into the TAL and SVT. There's no update from 13-11-503 to 14-11-502 for FRM. :(

I vo-coded the FRM with ZK 1114 without any success. The search will go on. :)

Last, but don't works
It's a retrofit, rheingold says it doesn't work electonics module of the steering wheel
I should check if it has a fuse

Hello!

So, update-orgy is over. I flashed nearly everything accept Amp, DME, TRSCV, TV, ZBE and TBC. I had some trouble with these ECUs during the last flash and I don't think that one of this modul is responsible for the display-message of the heated steering wheel.

The result? Nothing, no message. :(

It could be related with the fact that I have a retrofited LCI steering wheel in my car. Rheingold nags about the wrong SZL but this happend everytime when you replace the steering wheel. I saw this error message also in a car with a new steering wheel, installed von a BMW service station.

has anybody an idea what can I do more?

In F30, you have to flash KOMBI and FEM_BODY, so as long as you flashed KOMBI, FRM, CAS, and JBBF, you have done the equivalent.

Does it work in new F1x's too or only new F3x/F8x?

In F1x not M5 only flash kombi with last I-Step not enough.
A friend of mine doesn't appear on 6WB (retrofit), kombi have last I-Step, whole car no

Shawn in my car 0911 appear in display (1211 has remained for 6WB)

Hello!

Hmmm, that is a thing I don't have to understand. Where they hide this damn function? It's not really necessary to survive but nice to have. :)

Hello!

One thing more. I can confirm that the function works for cars built >=07/2013 and i-step >=54.1. For cars with a built date before 07/2013 I saw it only in combination with the 6WB and >=54.1. Or is here anybody who has a car built before 07/2013 with a 6WA and has this display text?

I took a szl cafd from a F13 and compared it with my cafd. The number is the same, also the settings. Only one thing is different. CTRL_HOD_CODG_LVARCODE is 255 for F13 and 240 for my M5. But I think that's only a different type of the steering wheel.

soon as I can try 6WA.
I looked in my CAFD of SZL, in CTRL_HOD_CODG_LVARCODE, Werte is 0A, for F13 OD :tsk:
