E46 325i handbrake warning light (!) red and on constantly

Hi there

My E46's handbrake warning light (!) is illuminated red and is on constantly.

Handbrake switch tested and works fine. Brake fluid is topped up to the correct level.

What else could it be? No other lights are illuminated on the instrument cluster.

That's not the handbrake warning light.

There are a couple with "!" pictured. I think you'll find it's something else.

Not sure about US models but the red (!) icon is also shared by the handbrake and the brake fluid reservoir on UK models

Is the DSC light on as well indicating a issue with your ABS system? Is the brake pad warning light on indicating you need brake pads/rotors? Will get a red brake once the second stage of the brake sensor is tripped.

A Picture would help with all the lights lit up in the kombi

Turns out it was a wheel speed sensor and the abs pump motor. Thanks for your replies
