Good Day, Everyone!
My 2005 645Ci with high mileage has faulty engine valve stem seals and if you are familiar with this issue on the N62 engine, this causes the car to emit blue smoke after you drive off from sitting idle at a stop light. (i.e. Oil is leaking through the valve stem seals and gets into the cylinders which causes the smoke.)
I have yet to replace the engine valve stem seals on my car to stop the smoking.
Overtime, the carbon buildup from the oil that leaks via the valve stems seals into the engine's cylinder may block the secondary air injection port passages, which ultimately sets off the SES check light (Fault codes P0491 and P0492).
I researched the cleaning of the secondary air injection ports which causes fault codes P0491 and P0492 and I was able to find a reputable independent shop in Southern California that developed an actual kit to remediate this issue.
The fix that they developed for this issue is quite clever, and best of all, the engine stays in the car during your repair.
The kit costs: $250.
I think this price is extremely reasonable.
