How do you remove the throttle cable?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to change my throttle body, and to do that, I'll need to remove the throttle cable from my old TB. The trouble is, the cable is secured on two sides with plastic fittings and a plastic hose-like thread, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get it out without destroying something.

Am I missing something? Do i need to buy a whole new throttle cable for this? Any advice would be very greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes. You definitely missed something. I don't think I can describe how to take it of with less than a few thousand words. My suggestion is to remove the throttle body from the intake. Flip it upside down to look at hos the cable is attached to the TB. There is a plastic cable retainer inside a metal bracket. You pull the cable end away from the retainer. Squeeze the retainer and remove it from the metal bracket.

Hi Yaofeng and thank you for your reply.

Ditto on the plastic cable retainer inside the metal bracket, got that. However, the cable is secured at two points, one with the plastic bracket, and on the other point, a kind of black screwable short plastic pipe through which the cable itself is threaded....now this piece is secured in another metal bracket with what looks to be two washers and that, i cannot see how to work through. Help !

Sorry I cannot be of further help. I thought it was straight forward. I could not find a picture I saved which show the TB with the cable attached in detail. The picture below shows the TB on the intake manifold while the drive train is being lifted. The cable would have been separated already.
