Hey,

If you head over to bmwcoding forums there is the INPA tutorial there. From memory this only works with kombis manufactured after a certain date in 2003.

Coding these functions is really easy in dashsoft, so long as you know where the value is. It's more complicated coding it using NCS as the parameter is not included in the coding scripts for the module, it's basically hidden.

Coding using nettodata should be easier and is basically what dashsoft does.

Hope this helps!

Almost 90% of the members coding here have a working copy of INPA installed with a working cable. Dashsoft cost money to purchase while you can download INPA over the net. I looked at this on our coding forum a month ago, seems like a cool little mod, too bad I own a 2002.

If its that easy, why doesn't BMW let us have this option stock?

Ace,
I had the digital speed coding done in my 7 back in April.

However, I used the NCSExpert via NettoData parameter instead of the Dash program.

Everything works perfectly well apart from the Cruise Control Speed display. Once I completed this coding, the ACC (cruise control) indicator arrow within the speedometer is completely off as compared to the actual speed that the car is moving. It is slightly behind the actual speed. If that makes any sense.

This was an issue that was discussed way back in April when this coding became available and it seems like it has not been resolved yet.

The question I have for you is, have you tried the cruise control to see how it relates to the digital speed? Take a look at it then let us know. Thanks.

It's because the speedo is deliberately programmed with an offset so when you think your doing 50 your actually only doing 45, usually it's a 10% difference.

All cars have this.

I stumbled upon a thread about coding the kombi to display actual speed and remove the offset, not sure where it was now.

Edit:

There are two issues, one is the one mentioned above, the second is the cruise control arrow mapping is now set for alpina which has a higher top speed, this is where the cluster is getting confused and the scaling is out.

ACE, the byte at pos 0 you said changed automatically is the checksum, that's normal.

June 03 or newer is supposed to work, although someone claimed to have it working on an 02. Someone willing to give it a go?

Stuart, I have it working on my 2003 745Li built in May of 2003. I don't know of any reason why it wouldn't work on 2002 models, but i could be wrong. I used the directions on bmwcoding.com below:
