Okay so this is a pretty silly question, but I can't find a button inside the car anywhere to open the trunk with. Is there a button to open the trunk with? I always use the button on the key but sometimes when I come into the garage I don't have the key with me and then I can't open the trunk cuz for the life of me u can't find a button for it anywhere. Silly I know, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

There are 5 ways to open your trunk:

1) Use the little button on the drivers side down by the engine hood release (the one you are looking for;

2) Use the remote on the key (as you already know);

3) Use the key in the trunk;

4) Press the little black rubber pad on the bottom the license plate light;

5) Get a BFH and a breaker bar (although this is less desireable)!

6) Use a BF pole...

BTW, not all Bimmers have the trunk opening button next to the hood release. Mine (2006 325Ci, ECE coded and equipped, Mexican market) doesn't. And if you want the microswitch under the rubber pad next to the licence plate lights to work, the car has to be unlocked (done by pressing the unlock button on the remote twice, OR pressing the lock switch next to the hazard lights switch in the console and verifying that both door locks are up).

Or, in the OP's case, all four. :D

Locked my keys in the trunk. I have a 2000 323i and I couldn't find the release button as well (I just didn't have one...weird). I was able to get into the car -- but not the trunk. I called the dealership and they basically gave me 2 options - order a new key or drill through the trunk *under the license plate* to get in... they told me that they have had to do that before. They said that I could try a locksmith but they really did think they would be able to do anything different. I was very lucky though and was able to remove my speak and reach my arm in and get my key -- but they were on top of groceries (so close to the top) and I knew exactly where they were... not a fun day!

I did ask the guy at the dealership why it was so hard to get into the trunk and he said "So that you can keep all of your money back there and no one can get to it but you (with the right key)" :O)

some of you speak with fork tongue.

'01 330i has a latch you push to release the locked trunk. It is above the hood release lever, located left side below the dash.

To open the trunk with the lever (rubber encased) above the license plate, all door locks (4 doors) have to be opened in order for this lever to be activated.
