Guess I better put my 05 ZHP vert up for sale, wouldn't want too many folks thinking bad things about me cause I'm a 62 year old who really cares what others think of what I drive. So any suggestions on what would be appropriate? Hurry now, it is very close to my nap time!!

A few weeks ago, I saw a 70-ish woman drive a 3 series. She should not be forced to drive a Cadillac or a 1992 Honda Accord.

The only exception is that it sometimes looks silly when an overweight 60-ish man drives a Ferrari. Looks like a midlife crisis. However, if one is 60-ish and overweight and likes to drive fast, he may only be happy in a Ferrari.

Also, typically, younger folks can't afford ferrari's. If you weren't born into wealth how are you going to afford a ferrari at age 20 unless you are really one of those lucky few (pro-athlete, lottary, or genius who started working for Google). You already have to be one of the lucky few to afford a ferrari at ANY age.

I can't afford a 250k car now, but if I can in the future I may get one. That doesn't mean i am having a mid-life crises that means I can afford what I have always wanted... ever since I was like 5.

The mid-life crises comments are about as stupid as BJs rants on status.

"BJ's rants on status."

Yeah. The good old days. Remember when?

WTF???
I'm 65 & looking to pick up a 335xi here in the States or a ED this Fall.
Age is only an issue if YOU think it is!
At 40, you have a long way to go!
Words of wisdom:
Live young, think young, keep (fit) young & you'll stay young-enjoy (no Buick for me)

We have a large SUV. We need a mid size car for running around town and commute. We originally looked at the 5 series. But we found that 08 and 09 5 series' safty rating is very marginal. 3 series has much better ratings. Our only concern is whether mid 40s are too old for this type of car.

Another question, does 3 series wagon look more mature than a 4 dr sedan?
Tourings are always cool no matter what the age. I'm 46 and loving my car. Having had a license for 30 years now, I feel i've got the driving experience to hammer it the way it should be. Or "driving it the way god and Enzo intended."

You're only as old as you feel and if you are worried about what other people will think , maybe you should stick with a Volvo.

"If it's too loud ... you're too old".

In your will, you should specify that the hearse should be a 3 series Touring because no one is too old for a 3 series :p

(j/k BTW... may you live long and prosper  )

This is Lemmy. He's 62 years old. He can kick everyone's ass here all at the same time, then do all of our women, then hop in his Ferrari, go to a party and drink a gallon of Scotch, and play kick ass metal until 8:00 am.

Tool old???

lol, pray you're 1/10th as cool at 62.
Don't know how cool i will be at 62 - but definitely better looking :)

On topic: Best answer - if you have to ask if you are too old then yes you are too old.

Drive whatever you want and can afford. There's a 70+ female in my neighborhood driving a nice yellow Porsche Boxster. I wish she'd let me drive it, but she considers me to be a male chauvinist. I wonder what gave her that idea? :dunno:

More proof that all the fanboy forums are age skewed far left. Statistically we should average pretty close to that median age of 51, in fact I think the mean is close to 45. Instead our average age is in the low 20's.
This is very true. I think it's even more true in the 6er forum. I would guess the average 6er buyer is mid-50s and wouldn't even think about modding the car. But nearly every post in the 6er forum is by someone in their 20s and about lowering / 22" wheels / smoking the lamps / changing the HIDs.
