Hi Guys. Need help changing the VIN No on a replacement LCM to match my VIN. I have downloaded the guide but it is very vague as to how to enter the new VIN No in and write it to the new LCM.
Can someone PLEASE enlighten me in simple terms.
BTW I do have NCS Expert and EDIABAS Toolset32 up and running my vin has been entered correctly where indicated.
The reading I am getting from Toolset32 after running the job is : JOB_STATUS = ERROR_MISSING_FVIN

I must admit I didn't have any problems when I followed rebel.ranter's guide but here's a couple of vids to showing it being done, hopefully you can figure what's what from them.

This one is the one your really after, Toolset 32

If you really struggle here's one using Winkfp which you might have better luck with

In both cases they're changing the vin on different modules so obviously you'd be looking for the LM modules instead, sorry I can't help further but I honestly didn't have any issues when doing this so I don't have a point of reference for when it goes wrong :dunno:.

Thanks guys. Finally got it to write the matching VIN by doing exactly that...adding the sintax even though the guide says to omit it. Now I guess the fun begins.
Any good guises on how to program the module by any chance??
Many thanks for your help.
Dave.

Progress but still problems

Have followed the guide to the letter. However as soon as I insert the key the tail lights come on. I have purchased the correct LCM2 module as per the guide (9192642) for adaptive headlights per my options list.

The "Ident" is correct in INPA.

The vin has been matched and the LCM processed through NCS. Still the same. I cannot get the tail lights to go off. Do i need to change pins perhaps?
Also in WinKFP when I choose "Comfort mode" and then "Choose ZUSB" Nothing appears in the ECU family.
Hope someone here can steer me in the right direction as I have run out of options.

I think it's now just a case of coding your options, when I first got my LM2 and replaced the Vin plus copied my VO in from the CAS I had lights on that wouldn't go out even with the light switch in the O position. I had dip beam on all the time and main beam wouldn't come on at all .
Easiest way I found was to bring up a copy of my old .TRC file from my LM1 in notepad and go through the LM2 changing the options to match, there's a lot more on the 2 than the 1 so there's a lot of "change an option, scroll down, change the next, scroll and so on", once I'd matched up all the LM1 options, coded them in to the new one and let the car go to sleep then all the lights worked as they should, then it was time for the fun stuff, coding welcome lights and so on.
I'm not sure if you have it but NCS Dummy is a good program to use for this as it tells you what each option is for/what it does, so you can make an informed decision on changing said option, it is another program and an extra step in the coding process but it helps to know precisely what each option is going to do plus it writes the new .man file to your work folder so you just need NCS to code it to the module.

Try to default code your LM module using an older date (the date of your car)
What year is your car? Did it have the AHL module on the other side?
I just fitted an LM2 AHL on my 2005 650 and I had to mess a bit with the coding to make it work properly. At first it would switch on lights randomly with brakes. But after default coding it with a proper date it worked fine

I really appreciate your help guys. Build date is 2005-11-29. So help me out a bit more here as I am a novice. Save my .trc file from my original LM1 and then transfer settings to the new LM2? Then recode? I really don't think this is a fault withe the new module as it does look in A1 condition. I think the new module is from a 2009.

At the risk of coming across as a complete moron.....could you please tell me how to "default code" the new LM2?
Dave.

Loading a blank MAN file will default code a module. The question is will that default give you what you need for your car. Worth a try.

OK. I now have the LM working as normal with no errors thanks to all your assistance. However....when I code for angel eyes as DRL the headlights and tail lights still come on as well as the angel eyes. Is there a way to code for ONLY the angel eyes as DRL with no other lights on?
TIA.
Dave.

Again many thanks to the forums members for their valuable assistance.

That would be an ICBM (Inter Continental Bimmerfest Meet) :D, could be interesting when you give the airport clerk that acronym as a reason for being in the country .
