Lighting delay

I'm wondering if I do not have something set correctly. I've got the Executive package with the adaptive headlights and have a lighting delay set for when I exit. When I get out of the car the headlights and tail lights go out right away and I think only the door handles stay lit. My previous Mercedes had the fog/cornering lights stay on for the amount of time set as sort of a pathway light. Has anyone else noticed this, or have I not set something correctly? Thank you.

BMW's activate pathway lighting manually. After shutting off the car, pull back on the high-beam stalk, this will activate the lighting for the time specified in your iDrive menu. This way, you can decide if you really need it for a given occasion. For me, parking in my garage every night, it would be a waste for the headlights to stay on every time for no reason.

True, pressing the alarm button on the fob for about a second will activate them. However, when getting out of the car, the fob is probably in one's pocket or purse, I think it's easier to just pull the high-beam lever as you exit the car. The welcome lights come on when you hit the unlock button on the fob as you approach the car.
