Is it possible for dealer to remove the WiFi option from a custom 2020 build order. Can***8217;t seem to do with online configurator
Don***8217;t want to have a hotspot in car transmitting all the time. Apparently there***8217;s no way to completely turn off the WiFi radio if it***8217;s presentWhy? You don***8217;t have to use it if you don***8217;t want it.
Same goes for eco mode.
Sorry to sound like a butthead, here, but why did you bring this up to try and confuse people? BMW G30's clearly require WiFi for CarPlay. All cars require WiFi for wireless CarPlay. Bringing up wired CarPlay in this thread seems to serve no purpose other than to say "I'm smart". Yeah - my post comes across as an "I'm smart, too" post.Honda does not require wifi to be on. But is also requires a wired connection. So no, wifi is not necessary even if BMW does it that way.
Just to clarify - you absolutely MUST have WiFi installed and enabled to use CarPlay in a G30. A wireless hotspot subscription is another story. This CarPlay/WiFi requirement is documented in your owner's manual, and something that you can confirm in your own car's settings (this is from my car). You have to pay to use Wi-Fi. Just don't pay or never authorize it. Has nothing to do with Apple car play. The cars do not come with it active, capable but not activated. My car play and connected app work fine without it.
