So I was reading around about resetting my adaption values on my e34. I know absolutely nothing about resetting it and need all the basic and advance information on what i need, how much, and how i can get it done. Also how do i reset the CEL? I did the stomp test and it was the mass air sensor and i got a new one but the light is still on.

That's the catch:
"It does often give good immediate results, however if there is something wrong with your car then over a 2-8 week period the car will likely return to its original state."

That code just means that the computer has sensed data from the O2 sensor that is out of the set range.
This can mean one of two things: Something is causing you to run too lean or too rich, OR the O2 sensor is caput.

The M60 has 2 sensors, a pre-cat(#1) and a post-cat(#2).
Are you sure about that? I'm about 99% sure that none of the E34's had a post cat O2 sensor because they are all OBD I. The post cat O2 sensor did not come out until '96 when cars had OBD II.

I was under the impression that the 6 cylinder e34's (M20, M50 and M30) had only one O2 sensor, but the 8 cylinder cars (M60) had two; one for each bank of cylinders. I think the question for OP would be to determine which side of the V8's exhaust has the #1 sensor.

I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time, but I feel pretty sure on this one.
