If you do some additional searching on the forums, internet and the TIS website (www.newtis.info)...you may find that others just pull the electrical connector for the the soft close door handle. If a fuse controls it...I would "presume" that the fuse controls multiple functions for central locking. But I'm just making a presumption...I do encouragne you to continue to do a search for info. The TIS website would probably reveal which fuses controls the soft-close actuators.

Good luck. BTW/FYI, BMW usually will share engineering design/function across multiple platforms...especially across generational cousins. In this case that would be the e60/e63/e64/e65/e66/ (5/6/7 series)...so if you find a DIY or a thread from one of the aforementioned forums about disabling their soft-close door handle...there's a 99.9% chance that the same would apply to your e70.

HINT: if you clcik on the TIS website link above...enter the last 7 digits of your VIN, then type "soft-close" into the search box...you may find some useful information about this feature that would include functional details as well as wiring diagrams etc.

 

Thank you. That was very helpful. One diagram I found online incorrectly listed the fuse number. Fuse 145 governs the driver's door (and only the door). So I pulled it And I'm all set.

This trick also works on a 2013 E71.

I pulled F145 and it eliminated my soft close door noise. All other electrical functions in the door works. The tis.info soft close electrical diagram confirms it only affects the soft close mechanism.

And it's still working in 2021. My 2013 X6 E71 developed the same problem with the actuator. Pulled fuse 145 and it appears to bypass the soft-close mechanism. Everything else on the door still works.

 

Does this fuse work for the passenger door also?

 

Hard to say…you left us no vehicle details…model/model year/etc. Please help us help you better by leaving us enough details/info to give you a correct answer. I would hate to look up the info and post it…then find out its the wrong information because I used a different model/model year than what you have. Some things can change from model to model from beginning of production to end of production.

But if you have the e70 X5 50i…then the front passenger SCA (soft close actuator) is powered by a different fuse…in fact each door has its own fuse. See chart below...front passenger SCA is F146 (circled in green):

 

I know you said you've pulled the fuse and that's good... But might I suggest that the repair is quite easy overall and I found the replacement part on eBay for cheap ($100 bux) and it has worked flawlessly for over 20k miles so far... Here's a link...

Hey i have 2014 bmw 5 series active hybrid. Can anybody can tell me how to disable the driver side soft touch feature ? Everytime i close door motor make breaking sound please if anyone can help. thank you.

My problem is a bit different eith 2013 E71. The issue is that soft close is not working only for the drivers door. All other works ok. There is bo sound or cracking when cosing the drivers door. It seems like there’s no soft-close any more. I’ve checked fuses and indeed fuse no 145 in a trunk was blown. After the change of fuse it blows right away.
Where I should start to look for the solution? Where could be open circuit? Don’t want to mess up with all the wiring by looking for the open circuit.
Appreciate your attention to it. I was reading previous posts, looking everywhere, but no luck from where to start.

So essentially, you pull the inner door, cover one at a time and disconnect, the soft, close actuator, put a fuse in it and see if it blows if it doesn’t you found the one that caused the problem

Hey guys (and gals!) you all saved me a major headache. First time the clicking started I almost jumped out of my skin. Then my wallet started hurting. But a little research says pull fuse 145 and viola! Problem solved. Many thanks!

 

I have a 2013 535i with the same soft close issue. Tried to disable by going and pulling the 145 fuse but it did not impact the soft close on the driver side. the 142 and 143 fuses seem to be 10 amp red fuses but the 145 fuse is a yellow 20 amp fuse. are there any other fuses that my power the system in my model?

 

Never mind. I just started pulling fuses. Turns out it is fuse 110 on 2013 535. I'm not so familiar with some of the body style numbers.

But, this is a great forum for troubleshooting.....lots of good advice here.
