The Elusive bmw e65 e66 navigation update to V32

Hi Guys,

I used to pride myself on being able to find any file on the internet .My first job in IT was a tech support rep with an ISP..a job with a burnout of max 18 months ,I've seen guys going from "yes Mam ,press the OK button " to Press the f**king button you stupid (bad word ommited ,My journey continued for 30 years for 14kps to 1gb ..What all this to do with BMW 7 I here you ask . Well I've so far taken 4 days to downlaod ISTA (thanks ShawnSherridan) but as I'm a pensioner and every penny counts I'm not paying the fileshare company for access to allow me to download so I have to wait 4 or 5 hors every time I try to download a large file . I had a dead DVD (rear nav) in my beautiful 2008 730 e65 so I bought an eBay special and it just sits there saying "Initializing" . My question for you BMW gurus have a wasted my €150 or is it a salvageable unit. The original unit never showed anything except garbage so this is at least showing on my iDrive screen , it pops up a green coloured screen when I switch to Navigation and gives the Initializion message for a minute or so and then the radio voulme decreses by 50% untill the green screen reappears .Happens weather a nav DVD is in or out . I believe there's a mythical V32 firware update iso somewhere but every link I've found is ded and there goes my reputation for being a google expert . Not sure if it would even help but clutching straws at this stage .
Can anyone help ? Either with the Inialisation issue or a source for the V32 . I know it's a 1st world problem and minor in the scheme of things but it's really bugging me

It has me confused .. Firstly it won't accept a disk ..any disk . I used to repair domestic DVD players back when they were a thing . I've cleaned the lasers (very carefully with IPA ) .Cleaned the disk in sensor and check it with a meter and it will give continuity when I slide it across but the mechanism doesn't wake up . If I disconnect the ribbon cable from the disk unit to the main unit the mecha instanly springs into life and sucks in the disk therefore confming that the mechanism is all correct and present .it spins the disk for a few seconds and the laser lights but the sled never moves then goes it back to sleep .I then have to manually eject the disk by lifting the motor and mnaually moving the mech . I've swapped the disk unit between both and the same result .I've swapped each of the parts around between both ..daughterboard and GPS and nothing works . Funny thing is if I go into the "Secret" iDrive menu it will show me all the details of both drives ..sw version DOB etc . I can't find a wiring diagram for the connections on the back ,everything seems to be available for the F10 etc but the 2008 E65 seems to be in nowhere land when it comes to info on the electronics . This is the first BMW I've ever owned ,I can do Ford electronics eyes closed but this thing continuse to both baffle and amaze me :) I should have bough one a long time ago . The nav thing is just an inconveniance ..If there's any Irish on here (still in Ireland) I'd love to just swap the dvd to see if it is actually duff or is it somthing further up the line ...oops there I go again ...too many words :-(
