What did you do to the 5er today?

I put in a new coolant reservoir cap since the original one had actually begun to rot and was allowing some coolant to escape.

After that, I pulled off the flaking, completely deteriorated rear window seal and put in a fresh one.

On a separate note, today the warning light for the license plate lamps came on. I put in some LED bulbs about a month or two ago and everything had been running fine until today. I might have to slap in the old ones again.

I let it go to 140 MPH and back down to 0...the car was just asking me to let it do that!! :dunno:

Put on a new M5 front bumper on my 535 sedan. The 4th or 5th one in 4.5 years. People who borrow my car don't grasp the concept of lowered stance on coil overs.
Received RB inlets, to be installed on Monday.

Bought a set of ISC N1 coil overs for the e61 wagon. Also a used set of M6 sway bars. Updated MHD Stage 2 to v6 (Beta tester.)

This weekend will be testing a 128GB SSD HDD for the CIC. Hoping to expand the audio partition to 60GB so I can load all my tunes.

The ISC COs arrive next week. There's a thread on 5series.net about them by Island Road. He was the guinea pig for them over the summer and gave favorable review.

Re SSD I have not done it yet. Just tested that the conversion would work. It's possible that the OS will not recognize larger partition, will have to see in a few days.

I installed a Mishimoto oil catch can last night. Found some materials at the shop where I work at, stainless steel lines and swagelok connectors, those things will outlast the car! HA HA!

Replaced brand new Yoko 580's for Michelin AS3's only after 5 mos and 6k miles due to slight drifting/sliding during exiting/entering off/on ramps (wet/damp surface--rain).

Buuuut...after install, I was able to get rear tires to spin out a little so don't know if I spent extra coins for better wet surface grip for nothing. :dunno:

New tires need about 100-500 miles to break in and lose the coating its covered in due to vulcanizing process. Iirc it's basically a non-stick coating so the tire doesn't stick to the mold. After this the tires will grip better and be more predictable.

I wet sanded the entire car, compounded, polished then waxed the whole thing. 12 hours later a whole new car. Then shampooed the interior after removing all the seats, conditioned and cleaned the leather seats. Now time for the Christmas party. Happy Holidays!!

How difficult is it to replace the rear window seal, is it stickily a compression fit?

It's not terribly difficult. It's easier to pull the old one out that it is to put the new one in though. I had a hard time making sure that it was all seated correctly and not kinked up.

I cleaned the water spots off all my windows with Barkeepers Friend, followed by a good washing and treating the windows with Nanoskin Rain Glass Sealant. Located and hand polished some scratches/swirls out after a washing.

Santa's bringing me a DA polisher, so a complete detailing comes shortly after Christmas.

And yesterday go the car back from getting a new starter, replacing the coolant reservoir vent pipe (line b/w reservoir and radiator), and fixing/replacing a fuel leak in the driver side fuel filter housing, and leak diagnosis pump.

Due for a complete paint detailing/rewaxing soon.

Put in my old license plate lamps as the ones that I got off of Amazon started throwing a code. They were fine at first but that only lasted about two months or so. Don't know if I'll order anything replace them with yet.
