M54 engine vacuum tubing - what size, what material, what length, what supplier, etc.

Just to help out on the E46 side, we've done a lot of research lately into figuring out exactly what vacuum tubing (one material), hoses (multiple materials), and pipes (rigid) and vacuum endcaps to replace.

The Realoem diagrams for the M54 are notoriously inaccurate; so we also corrected them as needed.

We also are working on the lengths of tubing, hoses, and pipes to buy, and from whom.

Since nominal prices are horrendous (over $300), we found a great supplier of Viton vacuum tubing at good prices also (around twenty five bucks or so, depending on your selection).

If you're interested, see the following recent threads on the E39 side of the house:
- How to locate all problematic vacuum tubing & vacuum endcaps in the E39 engine bay (1) & where to get new vacuum tubing & endcaps (1) & what SAE sizes to get for all the M54 engine vacuum tubing (1) & correcting the F-connector errors in the realoem diagrams (1) & finding the ends of hard-to-locate vacuum tubes (1) & how the sucking jet pump actually works to multiply manifold vacuum to the brake booster (1) & sorely needed clarification on how the M54 CCV vacuum port works on the E39 M52 CCV valve connection to the fuel pressure regulator connection (1)

All these threads could use your input.

Good idea.

Looking at the ECS Tuning web site, I find that they do not make it easy for us.

I can make it easy for others by providing the exact links; but the web site mashes together all vacuum hoses into a single 4-page listing, by size, color, company, material, and other specifications.

They do not have engine-specific or even model-specific vacuum hose listings. All vehicles (VW, Audi, BMW, etc.) get the same 4-page tubing & hose listings (under the "General Purpose -> Hose" category at the left of the home page).

So that others benefit, I'll create an easy-to-use table of just the right hoses, tubing, and pipes to order for the M54 (I'll put it in the reference thread so that it's not entered & maintained twice).

Thanks for the suggestion.

Other suggestions are welcome so that we can make ordering exactly the right lengths and materials a one-click cinch.

@Bluebee

Where can I find the reference thread where you posted your list? Is it a list of the hose sizes and lengths? that's what I am looking for instead of taking my own inventory. I am sure someone out there has replaced all the hoses and has the lengths and sizes they used available for others...please advise.
