E46 - airbag problems

Hello everybody

Is there any way to reset the airbag light on the dashboard without going to the dealer?

Can one OBD scanner (not original Bmw one) delete the error of the airbag?

Do you know that you don't actually HAVE an airbag problem?

no idea why i haven't heard of "Passenger Seat Occupancy Mat Bypass" way to fix the airbag light issue.
all i remember was that it requires a scan/reset tool that is capable of resetting the airbag light for BMWs

to save even more money than buying a sensor bypass unit, like jcjdavis1 mentioned above, i am following what these two guys do:

just bought some 100 ohm resistors and 1N4001 diodes from radio shack today and will build the unit and insert it to the circuit under the passenger seat tomorrow

100 ohm resistors: 5x for $0.99 (only two are needed)
diodes: 2x for $0.99 (only one is needed)

this simple sensor-bypassing mod basically tells the ECU that there's ALWAYS a passenger on the front passenger seat...
so that in case it determines to deploy the airbags, it will deploy the front passenger airbag, which means, having this mod done, you should never have an underage kid at the front passenger seat.

hopefully, the light will be off when i finish this mod/fix... some claimed that it still requires a reset tool to turn the light off even with this sensor-bypass fix done.
