Hi, everybody. The creaking noise associated with window seals rubbing against window shadowline trim is common for BMWs. It can really drive you nuts and take away from enjoying your ride. Dealers suggest replacing seals and/or applying special (looks like it's 3M) Teflon friction reduction tape per TSB.

I've found a solution that has completely eliminated creaking noise (100%). It's been 6 months (and many carwashes) and my car is still quiet.

It's very simple. I cleaned the shadowline trim really well with Goof Off and applied the product called REJEX. One of its properties is to dramatically reduce friction between materials. That's exactly what's needed. I've tried other products and they failed to produce results.

Rejex is available either online or in True Value Hardware (call first, not all of them have it).

P.S I discovered this solution here:

I can not take credit for it. All credits go to 328idogg on that forum. I just summarized the info and bring it to your attention.

Hope it helps somebody.

Yes and No. The solution posted will work on sedans because the weather stripping is affixed to the door frame. On coupes the weather stripping is affixed to the body of the car since the window is frameless. I use Aerospace 303 or similar on the upper weather stripping as Rejex will discolor it.

But, the coupe door could have Rejex applied where it meets the lower weather stripping that is also affixed to the car. I was lax in keeping mine properly lubricated on the lower half and my weather stripping is damaged now. This part is nearly $300 to replace!

Lesson to all of you... keep your weather stripping/door treated to avoid a costly repair.
